Colour Me Jazz: be included in a painting by Mary Moore!

Cry Me a River

In fall 2015 I am planning to show my series of paintings with a Jazz theme. The paintings will centre around characters, fictional, historical and actual, depicted in an illustrative style, acrylic on canvas. The show is scheduled to be presented in Ottawa at GigSpace gallery in fall 2015, date to be confirmed. The vernissage will be coupled with a performance by my band, Red Jazz & Friends. It is going to be a hoot!

As such I am inviting jazz musicians of all ilks to submit a few of their favourite images to be included in a painting in the series. There will be no obligation to purchase, but if you wish to do so, or to commission a special piece for your whole band, for example, prices will range from $1500 for a large painting, down to $300 for a 16 x 20.

Fun with colour...

The last two weeks we 'poured' our hearts out on canvas - first using pouring medium, and next using water, with saran wrap for added effect. The beauty below on the left was done by Grade 7 student, Ali Henderson. Wow!

Last week, we had a peary nice time with our poured pear theme. My little window gallery looked lovely!

This week we fly to outer space, or at least to the sky with another fine technique to create a softer, colourful abstract evocative of the heavens. A few samples from the internet:
