Tom and I have held Sunday Salons in the past both in our studio and at ArtScene and are happy to re-establish this delightful practice in 2016. The idea is to present 3 artists of different media (music, art, poetry, writing) at each event, in a gentle atmosphere of shared conversation and experience.
There is no cost, but we ask you to bring a beverage and a small snack to share. If you are an artist/musician/poet who would like to present, please click the RSVP below and send details. Artists are welcome to bring cds, or samples of their work for sale. Date: Sunday, January 31, 2016 Time: 2:00 to 5:00 pm Please RSVP by Tuesday, January 26. At Cedar Lane Studio, we have so much fun I wonder how the heck I will top it week to week. The first 2 weeks of classes in this winter season have seen us splashing and drizzling in technicolour. Last week our project was designed around a chosen word or phrase. We were too busy having fun for me to capture all the pieces on camera, but LIanne Gour was kind enough to send me hers, "Balance". Students considered their word choice carefully, and, no doubt, Lianne was thinking about balancing home and work, life and love..and don't we all. But her playful, bright and cheerful presentation shows us her optimism still runs high.
This week we took the same approach, using as our jumping off point a bouquet of silk flowers, beautifully arranged by student Sandra Ketchum. The image above is from the Wednesday evening class, but the Monday afternoon group did a lovely job too. I tried a few as well, the last one shown below here, along with the bouquet that inspired us. Same flower arrangement, and a bouquet of creative ideas arising. WOW! I want to let you know children's classes start this Saturday, running 8 weeks from 10 to noon. <click here> for more details. Painting in our beautiful studio, built by Tom in 1995, is a pleasure we love to share. With the Christmas season over, and a good store of firewood in the shed, Tom is turning his attention to putting finishing touches on his (significant) body of plein air work. Shown above, "Behind the Auberge, Val David" . We are currently seeking a few galleries to represent him. Meanwhile, we want to announce the return of our Sunday Salons.
A salon is a "gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine the taste and increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation." (Wikipedia) Typically we like to present 3 artists of various disciplines, and are just rounding up our artists now, so stay tuned! Artists may bring samples of their work for sale. Sunday, January 31, 2-5 pm. BYOB and snack to share (if desired), no charge. enjoy! For more information, to ask to be presented, or to let us know you are coming, contact Mary.
